Inosanto Academy, Marina Del Ray 19th June 2014
from Maul Mornie Facebook:
Arrive in LAX Airport in California, 19the June 2014. Ive been awake for 24hrs and traveling for 16hrs, and hungry. After a light lunch of Lobster Roll, Sean Barrows battled the busy traffic to Huntington Beach, then up to Marina Del Ray have the great honour of meeting Manong Dan Inosanto and Master Nino Pilla at The Inosanto Academy. Everything was a rush.
It was a very humbling experience, as Manong Dan Inosanto stopped in the middle of the class he was teaching, walked towards me at the corner, gathering his students promoting the SSBD seminar for this weekend and saying positive things about Silat, Bruneian Martial Arts and how Brunei is closely related to the Philippines historically. I didn’t think he saw us come in, I didn’t think he would know who I was, I was playing over and over in my head how to introduce myself to him; I couldn’t believe what was happening, I froze, I turn to Conrad Cayman sitting on my right, he whispered “stand up, stand up..”, I was exhausted from traveling, I was nervous with Manong Dan standing in front of me, my fingers felt cold, I was hoping I don’t say anything stupid in front of him if anyone was to ask me any question in front if him. The bonus was when he said he watched a few of my videos on youtube and gave me a compliment, that itself wiped away my tiredness and nervousness, then I felt more pressure to perform better than normal tomorrow because members from his academy will be attending the SSBD seminar… gulp!
Thank you so much Conrad Cayman for arranging this meet up and inviting me to the academy and Sean barrows for making this happen. An amazing 1st day experience in Cali.
